Arias scores 21 points in Matadors 113-40 win over Community Christian
YUMA, Ariz. – The Arizona Western Matadors Men's Basketball team (15-4, 6-2) earned its seventh consecutive win with a 113-40 victory over Community Christian College (2-13, 0-9) on Saturday evening in San Bernardino, Calif.
The Matadors shot 67.6% from the field as they eclipsed the century mark for the fourth time this season, scoring 113 points, and hitting a season-high 11 three-pointers in the win.
Arizona Western held Community Christian to just 14 points in the first half, outscoring the Saints 55-14 before scoring 58 points in the second half.
Jared Arias was the game's leading scorer, scoring 21 points while going 5-for-7 from the three-point line while Paora Winitana was the Matadors' second-leading scorer, scoring a season-high 13 points.
Edwin Suarez recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds and Guillermo Zabla finished the game with 12 points. Both Matt Anglo and Leano Rolle scored 10 points in the win.
The Matadors are back in action on Saturday, January 25, heading to Prescott, Ariz., to take on Yavapai at 4:00 pm at Walraven Gymnasium.
