YUMA, Ariz. - Lady Matador Garance Soulas is named this week's Chapman Yuma "Player of the Week." The freshman guard from France scored a career high 33 points in the Lady Matadors win 83-69 over Central Arizona on Wednesday, January 28th, 2026. Soulas played 39 minutes, shot 13 of 17 from the floor, including 4 of 6 from three-point range. The 33-point effort smashed her previous personal best of 20 points scored on November 6th, 2025, versus New Mexico Junior College. On the season, Soulas is third on the women's basketball team averaging just under 10 points per game (9.8 PPG). The Lady Matadors currently find themselves in second place in the ACCAC standings, one game behind Eastern Arizona. Arizona Western will next be in action this Wednesday when they travel to Las Vegas against the College of Southern Nevada. Tipoff is set for 6:30 pm MST.
