Arizona Western Matadors Volleyball sophomore Natalia Valencia-Gamboa was named Chapman Automotive Athlete of the Week after leading the Matadors to a weekend sweep of Yavapai.

Valencia-Gamboa had 24 kills in eight sets as the Matadors put together back-to-back 3-1 wins over the Roughriders. The freshman outside hitter had 13 kills on Friday night as the Matadors came back from a 1-0 deficit to win three consecutive sets to take the opening match of the weekend 3-1. Valencia-Gamboa compiled a .345 hitting percentage in the win.

The Buenaventura, Colombia native finished the weekend with 11 kills in the Matadors’ 3-1 win over Yavapai on Saturday.
