
Baseball allows eight unanswered runs in 8-1 loss to Cochise in series opener
YUMA, Ariz. – The Arizona Western Matadors Baseball team (12-4, 6-4) were held to one run and scoreless over the final seven innings of Friday's 8-1 loss to Cochise (13-5, 6-4) in Douglas, Ariz., at Bo Hall Field.
Parker Husu went 1-for-3 with the lone RBI for the Matadors who were held to three hits in loss while Victor Lopez scored the lone run.
Husu drove in the Matadors' run in the second inning with a single to put the Matadors in front 1-0 before the Apaches tied the game with a run of their own in the bottom half of the second inning.
Cochise scored eight unanswered runs, scoring three more runs in the third inning, and a single run in the fifth before adding three more in the seventh inning.
Felix Brunner tossed a scoreless 1.1 innings with a strikeout in the loss.
The Matadors and Apaches wrap up the series on Saturday, February 22 in a doubleheader beginning at Noon in Douglas, Ariz., at Bo Hall Field.
