
Baseball finishes Tucson trip with 15-0 win over Rockford University JV
YUMA, Ariz. – The Arizona Western Matadors Baseball team (24-6) concluded play in the Tucson Invitational Games with a 15-0 win in six innings over Rockford University JV on Thursday morning in Tucson, Ariz., at Kino Sports Complex.
Paul Medina tossed five shutout innings in the start, allowing just three hits and striking out seven without issuing a walk in a complete-game win.
The Matadors scored four runs in the second inning to jump out to a 4-0 lead before adding three in the fifth inning. Arizona Western pulled away by putting eight runs on the board in the sixth inning.
Gerardo Castro went 2-for-3 and drove in two runs while scoring three in the win, and Nathan Houston drove three runs while Bronson Neave tripled and drove in a pair of runs in the win.
The Matadors are back home on Saturday, March 15, hosting No. 19 ranked Salt Lake in a doubleheader beginning at Noon at Walt Kammann Baseball Field.
