Men's Basketball opens home schedule with 99-42 win over Imperial Valley

YUMA, Ariz. – The Arizona Western Matadors Men's Basketball team (2-1) opened the home portion of its 2024-25 schedule with a 99-42 win over Imperial Valley (1-2) as three players scored in double-figures on Tuesday night at the House Gymnasium.

The Matadors held the Desert Warriors to just 19 points in the first half, outscoring Imperial Valley 50-19 points. Leano Rolle scored 14 of his game-high 21 points in the first half to help the Matadors race out to the big lead.

Arizona Western built their first half lead by shooting 59.4 percent in the first half and outrebounded the Desert Warriors 19-6 in the first 20 minute, winning the total rebounding margin 57-20.

Edwin Suarez finished the night with his second double-double of the season, scoring 14 points off the bench and grabbing 14 rebounds while Guillermo Zabala set a season-high in points scored with 11.

The Matadors are back in action on Friday, November 8. They will travel to Thatcher, Ariz., to take on No. 24-ranked Snow College at 1:30 p.m.
