Five Matadors score in double-figures in Men's Basketball's 85-64 win over Yavapai
YUMA, Ariz. – The Arizona Western Matadors Men's Basketball team (8-3, 2-1) pushed its winning streak to three games, beating Yavapai (2-8, 0-3) 85-64 at the House Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.
All five starters scored in double-figures as the Matadors erased an early six-point deficit to win their second consecutive conference game.
Both Matt Anglo and Boubacar Diatta scored 16 points each to lead the Matadors in scoring. The Matadors used an 11-0 run in the first half to take the lead early in the first half and never looked back.
Edwin Suarez recorded a double-double, ending the night with 11 points and 11 rebounds while Aaron Barton set a new season-high with 14 points in the win.
Yavapai cut the Matadors' lead to 12 points late before Arizona Western closed the game on a 9-0 run. Kaleb Myers recorded 12 points for the Matadors while Cam Atkinson hit a pair of threes in the win.
The Matadors return to action on Wednesday, December 11, hosting Cochise at 7:30 pm at the House Gymnasium. Tickets are $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for seniors while Arizona Western College students get in free with their AWC ID.
