Anglo scores 30 points to help Men's Basketball secure 89-70 win over Central Arizona

YUMA, Ariz. – The Arizona Western Matadors Men's Basketball team (12-4, 3-2) returned from the holiday break to beat Central Arizona Vaqueros (7-10, 2-3) 89-70 in Coolidge, Ariz., on Wednesday evening.

After trailing 39-35 at halftime, the Matadors scored 54 points in the second half to come from behind, earning their fourth consecutive win.

Matt Anglo scored a season-high 30 points, scoring 17 of those 30 points in the Matadors' big second half.

Arizona Western trailed by as many as 11 points in the first half and came back to lead by as many as 21 points late in the second half.

Edwin Suarez was held scoreless in the first half before scoring 18 points in the final 20 minutes of the game while Aaron Barton finished the game as the Matadors' third-leading scorer, scoring 11 points in the win.

The Matadors return to action on Saturday, January 11, taking on College of Southern Nevada in the first-ever conference meeting between the Matadors and the Coyotes in North Las Vegas, Nev., at 5:00 pm Arizona time.
