Gutierrez scores 32 points in Men's Basketball's 107-82 win over Southern Nevada

YUMA, Ariz. – The No. 13 ranked Arizona Western Matadors Men's Basketball team (17-7, 8-4) shot a season-best 63.4% from the field on its way to a 107-82 win over College of Southern Nevada (11-7, 6-5) on Wednesday night at the House Gymnasium.

Engel Gutierrez scored a season-high 32 points to help the Matadors race past the Coyotes.

The Matadors scored the first 13 points of the game and opened up a 17-5 lead early in the first quarter. Southern Nevada was able to get to within four points, hitting a three to cut the Matadors' advantage to 27-23 before the Matadors went on a 17-4 run to take a 44-27 lead. The Matadors scored 56 points in the first half and led 56-43 at the break.

Arizona Western started the second half on an 11-0 run and pushed the lead out to 73-45 on an Aaron Barton made free throw. The Matadors had their largest lead of the game late in the second half, going up 107-77 on a Kaleb Myers jumper.

All five Matadors' starters scored in double-figures with Edwin Suarez scoring 19 points and Kaleb Myers scoring 18 points. Matt Anglo finished the game with 10 points and eight assists while Boubacar Diatta finished with 10 points in the win.

The Matadors are back on the road on Saturday, February 8, heading to Thatcher, Ariz. to take on Eastern Arizona at 4:00 pm.
