Men's Soccer ranked No. 1 in the nation

YUMA, Ariz. – For the first time in program history, the Arizona Western Matadors Men's Soccer team was ranked No. 1 in the NJCAA DI Men's Soccer poll after picking up a pair of wins last week to remain unbeaten.

The Matadors started the week with a 1-0 win on the road over Yavapai thanks to a Terry Makedika goal in the second half, proving to be the game-winner. Makedika scored two more goals on Saturday as the Matadors won their second straight game, beating Scottsdale 3-0.

Arizona Western opened the season as the No. 2 team in the nation in the preseason polls and stayed in the No. 2 spot for the last six weeks before jumping to the top spot in week seven.

The Matadors head out on the road on Tuesday, October 10, heading to Tucson to take on the No. 2 ranked team in DII, Pima, at 7:00 p.m.
