
Men's Soccer places five on All-Conference teams
YUMA, Ariz. – As announced by the ACCAC on Tuesday morning, five Arizona Western Matador Men's Soccer players were honored on Monday as All-ACCAC and All-Region performers.
Terry Makedika was named First Team All-ACCAC while Erick Mejia, Shuntaro Endo, Nick Kinina, and Esteban Gonzalez all garnered Second Team All-ACCAC honors.
Not only was Terry Makedika the ACCAC Player of the Year, but the Arizona Western sophomore was named First Team All-ACCAC and First Team All-Region after leading the conference in goals with 13. Makedika has scored a goal in six of the last seven games and has totaled eight goals in that stretch to lead the Matadors to an ACCAC title.
Erick Mejia was named Second Team All-ACCAC after scoring three goals and setting a career-high with seven assists. The midfielder from San Luis, Ariz., started all but one game for the Matadors and scored his first collegiate goal in a 9-0 win over Trinidad State to start the season.
Shuntaro Endo and Nick Kinina were both named Second Team All-ACCAC after teaming up to lead the ACCAC's top defense, helping to record 10 shutouts this season. Endo scored a goal and recorded an assist this season, scoring a goal in a 9-0 win over Trinidad State on August 16. Kinina finished the regular season with a goal and an assist as well, scoring the goal in the regular season finale in a 14-0 win over Imperial Valley.
Gonzalez earned Second Team All-ACCAC recognition after making 35 saves this season and allowing just six goals in 11 games. Gonzalez made a season-high nine saves in a 2-2 draw at Phoenix while assisting on the game-tying goal.
The Matadors will be back in action on Saturday, October 28, hosting Yavapai in the Region I final at Matador Soccer Field at 7:00 p.m.
