
Softball falls 12-3 to Scottsdale in Great Western Shootout opener
YUMA, Ariz., - The Arizona Western College Matadors Softball team (1-4) dropped the opener of the Chapman Automotive Great Western Shootout 12-3 to Scottsdale (1-0) on Thursday afternoon at the Pacific Avenue Athletic Complex.
Krisilyn Corral went 2-for-3 with a double and a triple while Natalie Pinon tripled in the loss to the Fighting Artichokes.
Scottsdale scored three runs in the third inning to take a 3-0 lead before the Matadors got on the board in the bottom of the fourth on an Autumn Arriola single.
The Fighting Artichokes scored four runs in the fifth inning and five more in the seventh to pull away to earn their first win of the season.
The Matadors return to action in the Chapman Automotive Great Western Shootout on Friday, January 31, taking on Snow College at 10:00 am at the Pacific Avenue Athletic Complex.
