Women's Basketball uses three ball to beat Colorado Northwestern 88-50

THATCHER, Ariz. - The Arizona Western Matadors (2-0) had four players score in figures to help take down Colorado Northwestern (0-2) 88-50 to win their second consecutive game to open the season on Friday afternoon. 

The Matadors were led in scoring by Nyah Hardy who set a season-high with 20 points off the bench, hitting six three-pointers, four of which came in the Matadors' 29-point third quarter to help the Matadors pull away from the Spartans. 

As a team, the Matadors hit 15 three-pointers, going 15-for-37 from the three-point line as Jordan Labrador-Hallet hit three triples, finishing with the second most made three-pointers and ending the game with 11 points.

Freshman forward Mable Doumbia ended the game as the Matadors' second-leading scorer, scoring 18 points, grabbing five rebounds, and recording six assists and Naomy Zonzon-Huyghe had 18 points and led the team in rebounds with eight. 

The Matadors held the Spartans to just 18 points in the second half, outscoring Colorado Northwestn 29-9 in the third quarter. They went 6-for-9 from the three-point line in the third quarter.

Arizona Western finishes the weekend in Thatcher on Saturday afternoon, taking on Trinidad State at 12:30 pm at Gittaeau Gym.
