YUMA, Ariz. – The No. 5 ranked Arizona Western Matadors Women's Soccer team (7-0, 5-0) extended its season-opening win streak to seven games with a 6-0 win over Southern Nevada (3-4, 2-3) on Tuesday night at Matador Soccer Field.
The Matadors got the scoring started in the first minute of the game when Maria Lopez gave the Matadors the 1-0 lead just 20 seconds into the game. The Matadors added to their lead, scoring two more goals over the next eight minutes, both coming from Yui Suetsugu. Naho Yamamura gave the Matadors a 4-0 lead at the break, scoring in the 39th minute.
After a slow start to the second half, Asa Yamazaki added the Matadors' fifth goal of the game on an assist from Suetsugu before Suetsugu capped off the hattrick in the 65th minute to push the scoreline to 6-0.
The Matadors head to Bullhead City, Ariz., to continue conference play on Saturday, September 28, taking on Mohave Community College in Bullhead City, Ariz., for the first time in program history at 7:00 pm at Firebird Field.
