Five-goal week earns Suetsugu NJCAA DI Women's Soccer Player of the Week award

YUMA, Ariz. – Arizona Western Matadors Women's Soccer sophomore Yui Suetsugu was named the NJCAA DI Women's Soccer Player of the Week after scoring five goals and recording an assist in the Matadors' three wins last week.

Suetsugu started the week with a goal in the 86th minute at Cochise on Tuesday to put the game out of reach in a Matadors' 3-1 win over the No. 18 ranked Apaches.

The forward from Japan continued the strong week with her second four-goal performance of the season, scoring four goals in the Matadors' 21-0 win over Community Christian on Thursday evening.

Suetsugu finished the week by assisting on the game-winning goal in the Matadors' 4-0 win over Southern Nevada on Saturday.

With Suetsugu being named the national player of the week, the Matadors have now had two players this season honored by the NJCAA, joining Iyan Hernandez who was named the NJCAA DI Women's Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week earlier this season.
