Arizona Western Volleyball ranked 20th in preseason poll

YUMA, Ariz., The Arizona Western Matadors Volleyball team will open the 2024 season ranked No. 20 in the NJCAA DI Volleyball Preseason poll, released Monday afternoon by the NJCAA.

The Matadors are the defending ACCAC and Region I champions, advancing to the Rocky Mountain District A Final last season, finishing the season 22-8.

Three players from last year's team return for the 2024 season. Gabriela Martensson played in 29 matches as a freshman last season and tallied 301 kills while Ma'o Lauhingoa recorded 164 kills and 200 digs in her freshman season. Setter Juliana Henao-Amu also returns after playing in seven matches as a freshman.

The Matadors open the season on Thursday, August 22, hosting Western Wyoming in the first game of the 2024 Chapman Automotive Arizona Western Volleyball Invitational at 7:00 pm at the House Gymnasium.
