YUMA, Ariz. – Ashly Martinez secured the No. 10 ranked Arizona Western Lady Matadors Women's Soccer team's (14-1) third straight Region I title with a goal in the 79^th minute to beat Eastern Arizona (11-4-3) in the Region I Final on Saturday night at Matador Soccer Field.

Arizona Western had the first chance of the game in the 10^th minute when Cianna Thomas volleyed a ball over the bar. Eastern Arizona nearly grabbed the lead a few minutes later, sending a ball over the bar.

Eastern Arizona grabbed the lead in the 27^th minute on a header at the back post to put the Gila Monsters in front 1-0.

Arizona Western equalized in the 66^th minute when Wendy Jimenez hit the bar from 20 yards out and Loegan Alia headed the rebound past the Eastern Arizona keeper to tie the game at 1-1.

The ACCAC Women's Soccer Payer of the Year, Ashly Martinez grabbed the winning goal in the 79^th minute, breaking through the Eastern Arizona backline and beating the keeper to the back post to put the Lady Matadors ahead 2-1.

The Lady Matadors will head to Salt Lake City, Utah to take on Salt Lake in the West District Championship game on Saturday, November 4, at 12:00 p.m. Arizona time.
